The Western Governors’ Association hosted the webinar, Solving the Cyber Workforce and Skills Shortage, on April 16, 2021.
The United States is facing massive shortfalls in cybersecurity personnel and skills for cyber jobs, a shortage that is increasingly critical as cybersecurity threats become more complex and widespread. This webinar focused on ways to strengthen the talent pipeline to build a sufficient and sustainable workforce to meet cyber challenges. It also examined critical needs in training and education and explored how the public and private sector are working together to fill those gaps.
The webinar was moderated by Laura Bate, Senior Director, U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission. Panelists included: Rodney Petersen: Director, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education; Dr. Mark Hagerott: Chancellor, North Dakota University System; Dr. Dawn Beyer: Senior Fellow, Lockheed Martin; Dominique Walsh: Program Manager Apprenticeship: Closing the Skills Gap Grant Program, Cybersecurity Center for Business.
